Features / Currencies

The agreed amount.
In the agreed currency.

Set a familiar default, then choose the currency for each client, project and document. Keep the amount you quoted clear from estimate to payment.

  1. 01 / DEFAULT

    Start with your business.

In Settings, open Currency & Timezone, choose Default Currency and save. Set your timezone and date format alongside it.

  2. 02 / AGREEMENT

    Set the client's terms.

Choose the client's billing currency when adding or editing them. A new project starts in that currency; choose a different project currency when the agreement calls for it.

  3. 03 / DOCUMENT

    Check before sending.

A new document starts with the project's currency, or the client's when no project supplies one, falling back to the account default. Review its currency and prices before sharing.

One business. Different agreements.

Quote in euros.
Keep the bill in euros.

A US studio can agree a euro price for a European client's project. Set EUR on that project and check the estimate and invoice before sending.

Choosing a currency does not convert your prices. Enter the agreed amounts yourself; BillGrid does not supply exchange rates or calculate foreign-exchange gains and losses.

Keep the agreement with the project.

Example agreementAccount default: USD

The studio's usual starting currency.

Project agreement: EUR 1,200

The amount agreed with this client.

Invoice: EUR 1,200

Review the document in EUR. No USD equivalent is calculated.

A currency choice identifies the money; it does not translate the price.
Can I change an invoice's currency after payment?

An invoice holding payments keeps its client and currency. Review the currency before collecting money; editing the currency cannot convert a payment already recorded.

Can client credit cross currencies?

No. Credit applies only to invoices in the client's credit currency. A client with a remaining credit balance cannot change their currency until that balance is cleared. Read about payments and credit.
