For designers
Invoicing that looks as good as your work.
For freelance designers and small studios: quote the project, get it approved online, bill in stages or on retainer, and send invoices with your own logo and colors.
How a design project bills in BillGrid
- Quote it. Send an estimate your client approves or declines from a link, with questions left as comments on the estimate.
- Start once it's approved. Turn the estimate into an invoice in one click, for the whole fee or a first stage.
- Bill in stages. Record part-payments as they arrive; the invoice always shows what's still owed.
- Get paid by card. Clients pay from the invoice through your own Stripe account, and reminders follow up for you.
Made for how designers work
- Your brand on every document. Choose a Classic or Bold layout in your brand color, with your logo on invoices, estimates and PDFs.
- Retainers. Hold a client's money up front and draw invoices from it, or bill a monthly retainer with recurring invoices.
- Revisions by the hour. Track extra rounds with the timer and add them to the next invoice.
- Rebill costs. Log stock images, fonts or printing as billable expenses and pull them onto the invoice.
- A studio and a side brand. Send from up to five businesses, each with its own name, logo and colors.
Not the right fit if
You need contracts and e-signatures with the quote, a client portal, or a mobile app: BillGrid does none of those. HoneyBook and Bonsai bundle contracts and proposals, at a higher price.
Questions designers ask
Can I take a deposit before starting?
Yes: invoice the deposit as its own invoice, or record a part-payment on the project invoice. Your client can pay either by card.
Will invoices match my brand?
Yes. Your logo and brand color appear on the invoice your client sees, their payment page and the PDF they keep.
What does it cost?
$8 a month for unlimited clients and invoices, or $20 for a studio with staff logins ($5 per extra person). Free for 30 days, no card needed.
